Mystery Flower

The strong spring winds go on and on, so I put into use a Kaiser light tent purchased several months ago. Useful, but did not totally eliminate flower movement. This flower is a 25x stack. I'm not very happy with the composition so have made no effort to touch up the glaring artefacts resulting from subject movement and change of focus. But I can't find out what it is, for when I make another attempt. The reliable New Zealand Book of Weeds does not appear to have it. It is a shrub about 75cm tall with 2cm 4-petal purple flowers. Large leaves, pale green with lighter borders. Most weeds are not native so it probably originated overseas. Any ideas? IMAGE(http://dpzen.com/dpzattaches/dpzattachesu//2014092523353468885.jpg)

Hi John, It looks a bit like Lunaria annua (common name honesty). Comparisons of the leaf may provide better identification. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lunaria_annua_flowers.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunaria_annua

Was it an honesty plant or have you discovered a new species?

I haven't had a chance to check it out; work beckons, and today was spent in misery at Blue Lake near Rotorua at the Canoe Racing NZ Blue Lake 1 kayaking regatta. Blustery, wet, sport cancelled at 10am.
